I can attest to the yumminess of this bakery since I’ve actually been there. Not only is overflowing with tons of yummy sweets, but come to find out they happily do vegan cakes! Yes, I said HAPPILY! Who cares if you’re not vegan? I’m telling you, vegan cakes and sweets are de-lish. Click here to go to Sticky Fingers site.

or…if you don’t want me to do the assembly and printing for you (what?) you can do your own thing, and order just the pieces!

I know, it looks almost exactly the same as the first pic but if you look closely, you’ll see that:

1. It’s not assembled

2. There’s no “Mele” family printed on there.

Songs That Won’t Make You Want to Stab Yourself in the Ear

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

Okay, this will be an ongoing, evolving list of songs that aren’t your typical, hear at every wedding, make you want to stab yourself in the ear songs. I tend to loath those typical sappy love songs. I’ll keep searching the ever so generous Internet and asking every single person I meet what song they used or will be using. Please feel free to add your comments, song ideas and even barfy songs that all self respecting couples should avoid.

Anyone wondering what my wedding song was? Anyone? It was Viva Las Vegas by Elvis Presley. This was completely appropriate since my husband and I were married in Las Vegas at The Chapel of the Flowers. This was by far the funnest day of my life. Elvis (not the real one) walked me down the aisle, then sang (just like the real one) all throughout the ceremony). It was awesome. Whenever we hear Viva Las Vegas, wherever we are, we start dancing.

So here begins my list of songs that I hope won’t make you want to stab yourself in the ear:

Heavenly Day - Patty Griffin (My absolute favorite song on this list so far.

These Are the Days - Van Morrison

Daughter - Loudon Wainwright

Wildflowers - Tom Petty

Days Like This - Van Morrison

The Wonder of You - Elvis Presley (check out the video on the right side of the page!)

You are the Best Thing - Ray LaMontagne

I Love Being Here With You - Ella Version (my fave) or Diana version and there’s a Queen Latifah version which is actually excellent.
You will definitely need to know how to dance Arthur Murray style for this song.

Besame Mucho(Translation: “Kiss Me A Lot”) This song was originally performed by Edmund Hall in the 30’s but over the past 70 years has been performed by many artists. I like the Dianna Krall version and the Andrea Bocelli version, but if you search the Internet, you’ll find lots more.

You Asked - You Got it! BOOK CLASSES!

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

I am flattered and overwhelmed at the amount of requests that I’ve received asking if I will be teaching book classes again. After much thought and consideration, I have decided that beginning sometime in February, I will start teaching book arts once again. My super generous, enthusiastic and all around great friend, Sharon has offered the use of her beautiful, spacious, you’ll-be-green-with-envy studio in Purcellville.

If there is anyone that requires the basic bookbinding class once again, please let me know. Otherwise, we’ll dive right into the more intermediate / advanced techniques. If there’s anything specific you would like to learn, be sure to let me know.

I’m looking forward to teaching new, fun designs and techniques and as always, the classes will be filled with lots of laughter and friendly faces!

I can’t wait!

The Paperie Pumpkin Masterpiece

Saturday, November 1st, 2008

Finally! The moment you’ve all been waiting for! I have been waiting anxiously to post these pics for you to see just how cute the Pumpkin Masterpiece turned out! Thanks to all of you who submitted a guess via blog, email (and a couple of voicemail messages!).

Although nobody guessed “pig”, I am happy to announce that for this contest, EVERYONE is a winner and I will be sending out the cool gifts this coming up week. I am going to take a pic of the cool gift packages I’m sending out so all you non-guessers will be encouraged to guess next time.

Happy November first!

Technique AND GIVEAWAY!!!

Monday, October 27th, 2008

Okay, seriously now, I’m posting this for the TECHNIQUE of using multiple pumpkins, not because I’m a Minnie Mouse fan (not that there’s anything wrong with being a MM fan). It has nothing to do with paper (as many of my “how to” projects don’t) but it’s just that I find it quite interesting that I (the creative one) was creating a pumpkin masterpiece yesterday (can you guess what it was?) and was less than thrilled with the stupid ears I had to draw (because I had no ideas for anything else!) WHY didn’t I think of using mini pumpkins or gourdes as the ears??? Arghhh! I’m off to fix my super pumpkin masterpiece (which I’ll post soon).

(I seriously hope this thing turns out as cute as I think it will)

(Gasp! IDEA!) Submit your best guess as to what you think my super pumpkin masterpiece is. Those who are correct will receive a cool free gift - and yes, it will be a REALLY cool, quality, “definitely worth the time to submit my best pumpkin guess” gift, (NEVER anything junky from the Paperie!)

I will accept submissions from October 27th through midnight Friday, October 31st. Submit your guess by posting it as a comment right here on this blog.
I will be posting a pic of my S.P.M. on November 1 (no laughing, I’m a paper artist, not a pumpkin artist).

Etiquette: Go Ahead, Ask: Who the H*LL Put Me in Charge of Manners?

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

Well, the great thing about having your own blog (key words: YOUR OWN) is that I get to put myself in charge of any and all categories!

Okay, so originally when I started this blog and considered doing etiquette predicaments, I seriously wanted to barf at the idea of having to get all prim and proper and careful about how I was going to write it. Would I offend people? Would I have to write like I was Emily Post? Both would have me sitting here at the computer for hours editing and editing, so I got to thinking…why not just write these little etiquette dilemmas as if I were talking to a bunch of gals? Really, it’s the only way I can write this little blog and I don’t have to constantly bug other people, asking them, “read this before I post it, does it sound ok?”

Back to the real question…Does Cami Even Know What She’s Talking About?”
Imagine how embarrassing this whole thing would be if I didn’t.
I literally POUR and POUR over all things etiquette. Big, huge, thick heavy etiquette books to really thin, skinny pocket etiquette books. Modern etiquette books which talk about the groom’s blackberry ringing while you’re walking down the aisle to more classic etiquette books featuring how to cook a pleasant meal for your mother-in-law for the first time. And there’s also the endless magazine columns (mostly bridal) and the tons of websites…

So I promise to try to always find the best and most useful tips for my readers. If you disagree, want to make a comment or share a great story - PLEASE DO!
I can’t wait to hear from you!
