Fun, Easy & Pretty DIY Glitter Pine Cones!

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

Hi All!
So sorry for the quiet week on the blog. I’ve been super busy (in a good way!). I am somewhat back to my regular schedule and wanted to post this super easy how-to project. Keep in mind, this works great with mini pumpkins, leaves, funky gourdes or really just about anything. The trick is to use a LIGHT COATING of SPRAY ADHESIVE (NOT white or paste glue) and SUPERFINE GLITTER (not the chunky glitter that kids use). Seriously folks, I can’t say it enough – a LIGHT coating of adhesive or you’ll surely wind up with a mess. Remember to spray outside. It’s super smelly and super-er sticky.

Step one: gather up your spray adhesive, newspaper, glitter and whatever it is you’re glittering. Pour glitter into a large ziplock bag.

Step two: Spray pinecones with a light coating of spray adhesive using the newspaper to protect the surface below. Seriously, the concrete will be sticky forever if you don’t protect it. Make sure you cover all sides of your object.

Step Three: Place pine cones in ziplock bag, zip it up and shake!

Voila! Done and oh so pretty!

Hello All! So sorry for the silence this past week. I was very, very busy getting everything ready for my friend’s wedding (programs, menus, etc). Not only was this wedding absolutely spectacular in every way, but the bride and groom are such lovely, wonderful people.

Wedding Programs – An Excellent Way to Make Your Guests Feel Welcome and Involved

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

Here at the Paperie, I get lots of inquiries about programs. Programs are wonderful because not only do they help your guests follow along with the ceremony, they make your guests feel welcome and involved. Plus they are a wonderful keepsake!

Cami’s Paperie offers a wide range of highly customizable programs. We can match your wedding colors, coordinate with your invitations and even create a one-of-a-kind custom monogram for you!

Not sure what you should include in your program? Here’s a helpful list of some items you can include:

  • Your Names, wedding date and ceremony location.
  • The elements of the ceremony, such as prayers, readings and musical pieces.
  • The Participants including your officiant, wedding party, readers and musicians.
  • An Explanation of any cultural traditions
  • Thank-You’s to your guests of family.
  • A tribute to deceased relatives

Here’s a general guideline of Cami’s Paperie program offerings (click twice on each pic to enlarge):

Cool Ideas for Table Names and Numbers

Monday, May 18th, 2009

Looking for a different way to distinguish your tables at your reception? Try one of these snazzy ideas:

1. Name your tables after famous poets. Include a line of their poetry somewhere on the table number.

2. Name your tables using the word “love” in many different languages.

3. Name your tables after famous people from your state.

4. Numbers are fine too! Include photos of you or your spouse at the age that corresponds with the table number.

5. Name your tables after special places you’ve been together.

6. Name your tables after your favorite movies.

7. Here’s one of my favorites. I recently worked with a couple who named each table after a category (for example, “Sports”). On the back of the table number we listed 20 trivia questions on that specific subject. The answers were in an envelope on the table.

Planning a Vegas Wedding

Monday, April 27th, 2009

A Vegas wedding can be fabulous, especially if you plan it well. Take it from me, a girl who not only got married in Vegas, but who was proudly walked down the aisle by Elvis himself. It was simply fabulous.

So, if you’re going to jet off to Sin City to get hitched, here are a few pointers:

  • The busiest wedding months in Vegas are April, May, June, September and October.
  • No blood tests are required for a Nevada marriage license. The fee is $55 cash. For more info on the marriage license, go to www.accessclarkcounty.com.
  • Keep this in mind – from June to September the temperatures commonly reach the triple digits. Yuck.
  • Holidays and holiday weekends are in high demand for conventions and wedding receptions. Book early to get your space.
  • Take advantage of the many private rooms in some of Vegas’ best restaurants and clubs off-hours.

Have fun!

So Cool…Test drive your table settings before you buy!

Friday, February 13th, 2009

Wow. Very Cool. My friend Alexis sent this awesome link to me. You can test drive your favorite china before you buy it, and I’m telling you, it’s addictive. I’ve been playing with all my new china for the past forty-five minutes!

Your turn!

Some reeeeeally great ideas

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

Want to inject a real shot of personality into your wedding and show your guests just how cool you really are? Here’s a list of some really great ideas! Enjoy :)

Surprise Guests with a handwritten note in each place card (“Cami, thanks so much for flying in from Fiji”)

Forget the traditional guestbook; instead, buy a coffee table book on a subject that you both love and that you’ll display at home. Have your guests write on the photos or in the margins.

Take a spin with your parents — and his — with the songs from their first dance (make sure you set this up with everyone ahead of time)

Light the way with a custom gobo. Fun!

Have your initials embroidered on the inside of your wedding dress.

Honor your families by placing their framed wedding-day photos on an entry-way table

Raise your glass to any guest having an anniversary or birthday

Have your florist design a bouquet in the same style as your mom’s (show him photos).

Skip the bouquet toss and give your flowers to the couple married the longest.

or Skip the bouquet toss and give your flowers to the woman who has had the greatest impact on your life.
